I created this calculator to help you plan for a new addition to your family. You might also use it when comparing employers maternity packages to see how they would effect you in real terms.

It will not retain any of your data so all your answers anonymous and only available for you to see.

You can use the blocks to input different weighting - for example if you receive part of your package as full pay and part as half pay. No need to add in statutory pay as this will automatically be calculated for you.

Toggle between weekly and monthly to see how your salary will be paid as you progress through your time off. Monthly average takes the total pay you will receive during your time off and divides it between the number of months you have indicated you would like to take off. This gives you a sense of how to spread your pay out evenly over your time off. Some employers offer to pay you in this way so that could be something you choose to discuss with them.

Please note: figures are based on your GROSS income so you will need to allow for tax, National Insurance and any other deductions from your salary such as pension & student loan contributions.
